Awana CC101

Yes, you read that right. I completed college in three days, well, Awana Commander College 101 that is.

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend Awana Commander College 101 in Orlando, FL. I met many dedicated children’s ministry workers, ate way too much food and enjoyed a team-building photo scavenger hunt, but most of all returned with a new sense of urgency and passion for reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to know, love and serve Him. That is the focus of Awana, reaching kids for Christ and sharing the gospel with clarity and urgency. If we are not doing that, we are missing the point. The conference greatly helped me understand my role as Awana Commander.

Attending a conference is a great way to get fired up for a certain cause. I’ve got a notebook full of information and ideas from the conference. After an event like that is over it’s often easy to go back to life as usual. I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to waste the three days I spent in Orlando.

Here are several specific goals I’ve set for myself.

  1. Make prayer for Awana, our leaders, clubbers and their families, a personal priority.
  2. Develop a plan to use our bus on Wednesday nights for the 2015-2016 club year. Who could we reach? What neighborhoods would we go to? Who would drive the bus? These are just a few of the questions to answer.
  3. Schedule and facilitate two Leader Training Workshops in 2015.

Please pray with me about these goals. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Here’s a question for you:

How can we reach more kids for Christ?

Leave a comment below with a suggestion or two.

Have a great weekend!

Josh

P. S. Our Faith Fall Festival is Sat, Oct 25 from 5:30-8:30p. We’ll have trunk-or-treat, fun-flatables, games and food (I’ll be at the cotton candy machine)!
